I headcanoned that Buggs has always likes Penny (appearance wise) but since she confiscated his knife, it gives him the wrong impression of her

Once Penny is fixed by Monty, Buggs finally understands that Penny was controlled by her mother, and from there, they grew closer

Buggs has a crush on Penny but she's oblivious to it

Billy developed feelings fir Kidd after Kidd rescued him. Same goes for Alice in the second game

Alice thought Kidd had a crush on Lily and always viewed her as a rival

But SIKE! It was Billy who she had to "fight" for Kidd's feelings and attention

Kidd knew that they were both fighting for him, but he didn't know bcus they had a crush on him... He always thought it was bcus they wanted to repay him for rescuing them

The Worst Recess Ever.

it was lunch time at Apple State Primary School; Lily was sitting at the bench where her and her friends always sit. it was a pretty nice spot, there was shade from the tree, and u get a view of everyone else in the playground and eating area.

Lily was sitting on the bench waiting for Cindy, Carla, and Penny, but she couldn’t see them?

5 minutes went by; Lily was getting hungry. “i’m sure they wouldn’t mind if i ate my sandwich now while waiting for them..” so she unzips her lunchbox and pulls out a sandwich that he mum packed her this morning. there was still no sign of her friends.

10 minutes had now gone by; the bell for recess had rung, her friends still weren’t here. she started to feel pretty lonely. who was she gonna play with at the playground, or the hall, or oval? who was she gonna do handclaps with? her brother Billy saw she was by herself and invited her to a game of handball with his mates. “hey lily! u wanna play two square with me, nugget and kid?”

“oh, no i’m okay”

“okay, suit yourself. u can join us whenever”

“💭jeez where the heck are the girls?!”

she then clocked Carla from far away. she was holding a bin bag and was walking around the eating area with Mr Danner. she quickly zipped up her lunchbox and ran to Carla. “Carla! where were u?! u and the other girls didn’t join me at the bench.”

“sorry Lily, i’m on rubbish duty”

“what why?!”

“well when u weren’t here yesterday, i talked back to Mr Danner during hpe and got a yellow slip for it + rubbish duty..”

“oh rough.. but what about Penny and Cindy?”

“well same thing as me except Cindy was talking back to Miss Applegate and Penny was talking back to Mr Stevie. i think they’re doing other jobs for those teachers they got in trouble with.”

Mr Danner then interrupted the conversation; “Lily i think u should go back to recess. Carla clearly has a job here to do.”

“sorry Mr Danner”

Lily walked away and went back to the bench. bummer, all of her friends were doing jobs and yellow slips and Lily was the only one who hadn’t done anything. 10 minutes went by, Lily just sat by the bench by herself, being in her own thoughts. she started to get bored so she walked over to Billy, Kid and Nugget, who were playing two square handball.

“u double bounced”

“what?! Kid i didn’t double bounce!”

“yes u did billy, ur out”

“man.. oh hey lily! come to play some handball with us?”

Lily sits on the bench with Billy.

“no not really. can i just watch u guys?“

“oh, yeah that’s fine!”

so for the rest of recess Lily just watched Nugget, Billy and Kid play two square handball. it was boring, but also fun to see them argue over who doubled bounced, or if they hit it while it was out of bounds. the bell rang, Lily went to the bench to grab her lunchbox and went back to the classroom.

this was the longest, most boring recess of her life.

Her first book was a beautifully adorned Egyptology book that her grandpa Hershel bought her before she could even read properly. She learnt about a lot of gross mummification facts at the sweet innocent age of 5 and would randomly share them with the adults in her life as they were trying to go about their day.

“Emmy,” Penelope said making her way into Emily’s bedroom without knocking.

Emily merely rolled her eyes as she turned back to her closet to look for the outfit she wanted for the evening, “Yes Pen. How can I help you today?”

“Newbie is coming over for movie night. What movie do you want to pick for the evening?” Penelope asked flopping down on Emily’s bed.

“Sorry love, I am actually going out tonight.”

The blonde cocked her eyebrow looking at her roommate, “With who?”

“No one you know,” Emily said trying to brush it off, “I will try and be quiet when I come home.”

“Bullshit. I know everyone you know. I know everyone at this university,” The blonde argued.

“Which is creepy Penelope.”

“Which is MY JOB!” Penelope retorted, “Well… I probably know too much about people but what can I say I am a technical genius.”

Emily just shook her head as she started to pull on her v cut red shirt and tight black jeans. She was doing her best to ignore all the questions Penelope was asking until she couldn’t take it anymore, “If I tell you who I am going to see will you leave me alone?”

Penelope contemplated this and then finally nodded. Emily sighed and then told her that she was going to see Marian. Penelope did her best not to let out a large groan and instead merely rolled her eyes at her roommate. She got up from her spot on Emily’s bed and made her way out of the room. The utter silence that the blonde was giving her put a pit in Em’s stomach. Once she was done getting ready Emily sought out her roommate. She found the blonde digging through their DVDs trying to find the best ones for the evening. She glanced up for a moment when Emily entered the room but didn’t say anything.

“Penny, can you please talk to me.”

“You told me to leave you alone,” The blonde retorted putting aside two dvds.

“But I never actually mean it. I always want you to bother me,” Emily responded beginning to pick at her nails, “I can tell you are mad. Can you just tell me why?”

“If you stop picking at your nails.” Emily immediately stopped shoving her hands into her pockets. Once Penelope was satisfied she looked up at her roommate, “I have told you this before and I will keep telling you this until you understand me. Marian is BAD NEWS. She only calls when she wants to use you. She manipulates you for her own benefit and I am so tired of seeing you falling into her trap over and over again. Please Emily…stay here tonight. I really think that you will like the newbie. You are both a lot alike and I promise she is not a weirdo.”

“She promised this time will be different,” Emily pleaded, “Just let me try this one more time. If she stands me up again you can hold it over my head for… two months. And I will take full responsibility for cleaning the bathroom for those entire two months.” Penelope looked up at her best friend and merely sighed, “I would have given you one month of cleaning the bathroom.”

Em let out a tiny giggle, “Now can I get a Penny hug before I go?”

Penelope couldn’t help but smile as she gave Emily a goodbye hug. As she watched her roommate walk out the door she couldn’t help but sigh. Emily deserved more than what Marian was giving her but there was nothing she could do.

Ella and Penelope were two Disney movies when Emily finally came home. Her presence was only made known by the loud slam of the front door followed closely by the loud slam of her bedroom door. The noise had made both of the women on the couch jump and then a small frown came over Penelope’s face. She promised Ella she would be right back and then made her way to Emily’s room.  She knocked a couple of times but when there was no response she opened the door and entered the room.

Emily had flopped on her bed face buried in her pillow. Penelope could tell she was crying by the shaking of her shoulder but no sound was coming out. The blonde had never seen her roommate crying before and it put a pit in her stomach. She went to reach out for her best friend but then remember that she didn’t know if it would make Emily worse.

“Emmy,” Penelope called out, “I am here. It is Penelope.”

“Go away,” Emily mumbled into her pillow.

Penelope shut the door but remained in the room, “I know that your mom always said that you couldn’t cry and had to be strong all the time but you don’t have to be that way Em.”

Emily’s cheeks burned a bright red as her best friend hit the problem on the nose. She never wanted the blonde to see her this weak. Instead of responding she merely pulled her pillow closer and tried to disappear into the fabric.

“I’m going to sit on the edge of the bed and if you want to talk you can… if you don’t then I will just sit here until you feel better.”

Emily felt the weight of Penelope sitting on the edge of the bed and then all of her remaining walls crumbled. She sensed the warmth of her friend and all she wanted was to be held until the horrible feeling radiating throughout her body disappeared. When she realized that Penelope wasn’t going to be the one to engage the movement she let out a tiny whisper.

“Can I have a hug?”

“Of course Emmy,” Penelope responded, “I’ll come to you.”

Within seconds Emily felt Penelope’s arms envelope her in one of her famous hugs. It calmed down the brunette enough that she finally turned to bury herself in the blonde’s chest. Another couple of moments passed before she broke the silence between them, “Marian stood me up again. I waited for hours but she never showed up. I am so stupid. Why do I always do this to myself?”

“Oh sweetheart,” Penelope replied giving her a kiss on the forehead, “You are not the stupid one. Marian is. She lost out on one of the most amazing women I have ever met.”

“I’m sorry for ruining movie night with my outburst.”

“Ruined? NEVER. We made your favorite brownies. They should still be warm if you want to join. We would love to have you.”

“You mean it?”

“With my whole heart. Just come out when you are ready,” Penelope said giving Emily another quick squeeze before she left.

Emily took a couple of moments to pull herself together and change into a pair of comfortable pajamas. When she was ready she made a beeline to the kitchen for the brownies she had been promised. As she was is pouring a glass of water a bag of her favorite chocolates slides across the counter to her. She looks over expecting Penelope but instead was greeted by the brunette that she had been watching during class.

“Pen told me that these were your favorites. I figured today called for some emergency chocolates,” Ella smiled before filling up her glass with red wine.

Emily returned the smile immediately plopping a chocolate in her mouth, “Thanks… I suppose I shouldn’t keep calling you a newbie.”

She giggled, “My name is Ella.”

“Ella…a beautiful name,” Emily grinned, “I think we are in domestic violence together.”

A look of recognition came over Ella’s face, “Oh we do! How are you feeling about that group project?”

“I would feel better about it if you agreed to be my partner. I went to look for you after class but you disappeared so fast I couldn’t find you.”

Ella quickly sipped another drink from her glass before answering, “I had to call my mom. Hard to get her attention with her job and the time difference. But if you will have me I would love to be your partner.”

Emily grinned handing Ella a chocolate to seal their partnership before they wandered back out to the living room. Penelope was waiting with another movie already queued up. Ella plopped back down in the spot leaving Emily to sit in between the two women. Throughout the entire movie, Emily would slyly throw chocolates at Ella making her giggle. The sound was intoxicating to the brunette. Emily would be lying if she said that she had been watching the movie at all. She spent most of the movie watching the way Ella swirled the wine in her glass. The way that her smile lit up the room. Or the way her nose crinkled when she laughed. Everything about this newbie was infatuating. 

By the time the movie was half over Penelope was happily snoring in her tipsy state. Ella began to collect her things when Emily stopped her, “Let me walk you home.”

“You really don’t have to,” Ella said as she pulled on her backpack.

“Do you even really know how to get home?”

Ella laughed admitting defeat, “Not nearly as well as I would like. Are you sure that you don’t mind?”

“Not at all. It makes me like the knight in shining armor,” Emily smirked.

“You have been watching way to many Disney movies tonight.”

“Bold of you to assume that I don’t watch Disney movies every night,” Emily said extending her arm out towards Ella, “Shall we go my lady?”

Ella smiled reaching for Emily’s arm and pulling her close. They walked down the stairs of the apartment building in comfortable silence. It wasn’t until they made it out to the courtyard that Emily began to ask the other woman questions.

“What are you studying?”

“Criminology and psychology… with a specialization in domestic violence.”

Emily grinned giving Ella a light shove, “So I have chose the best group project partner is what you are saying?”

“Yes… just remember that when my ADHD takes over and I have memory the size of Dory.”

“Noted. I am pretty good a reigning Penelope in so I am sure we will be just fine.”

Ella laughed knowing the moments Emily was referencing, “What brought you to this school anyway?”

“Well this has always been my dream school and I just knew that I couldn’t go here without Pen. But as far as what I do…I am here for child advocacy much to my mother’s displeasure,” Emily laughed, “I doubt anything that I do would make her happy though.”

Ella just nodded before responding, “My moms really didn’t want me to go the criminology route and were even more upset when I chose domestic violence. Our whole life has revolved around the criminal justice system it just felt like the right thing to do.” “What do your moms do?”

“Olivia is the Captain of SVU for Manhattan. Amanda is one of her detectives.”

“How long have they been together?”

“Well let’s see… They started dating when I was fifteen so about eight years now? They adopted Noah together before officially getting married so I just count all of it together. Then Mom had Jesse when I was seventeen… and then Billie when I was twenty.”

“So you really can have it all,” Emily sighed making Ella cock her eyebrow, “Oh you know what I mean. That princess fairytale that you read about in books. The dream family with lots of kids, successful careers, and a loving partner.”

Ella nodded and Emily just smiled, “Maybe there is hope for me yet.”

“Of course, there is,” Ella agreed, “There is always a little bit of hope to give.”

“I like the way you think,” Emily laughed, “You would think after all this time with Ms. Sunshine some of it would have rubbed off on me but I still have yet to see it.”

Ella went to say something but before she knew it they were on in front of her dorm door. Emily released her arm and then slipped her a small note, “Here is my number so you can text me for the group project… or just whenever. Pen was telling me about your roommates. If you ever want to come over just come over. I know it can be hard to be away from your family especially when no one seems to be on your side but we are your family now.”

“Thanks, Emily,” Ella smiled, “I think that was your piece of sunshine coming out.”

Emily merely rolled her eyes and headed down the stairs back to her apartment. As soon as she got inside her phone pinged.

Hey, it’s Ella I’m just checking that you didn’t get captured by some serial killer on the way back to your apartment… Yes, I spend way too much consuming true crime. 

Emily let out a large laugh as she responded: Not this time. But you never know. Penelope claims that we have at least three potential killers walking around campus.

This banter went back and forth for a while before Emily and Ella fell into more casual topics. Exchanging pictures of when they were children, pictures of Ella’s siblings, topics they could do for their group project. They both fell asleep with their phone still in their hands refusing to let the conversation end willingly.
